Helpdesk
Information Systems Department
Department task is:
- provision and responsibility for administration and development of UIS UP database systems
- administration and actualization of user’s access authorization in UIS UP database systems
- administration and development of IS UP study management system modules
- administration and development of economic-management system modules at UP in following fields: finance, accountancy, salary and human resources, assets, material management and marketing of UIS UP.
- provision of administration and development of digital building passportisation and asset evidence of UIS UP
- analysis and development of small tasks of UIS UP in economic and administrative, personal and study modules
- participates in processing of pre-implementation final concepts of UIS UP implemented by external provider, and is responsible for its integration in UP intranet system
Application Development Department
Computer networks department is occupied with UP development concepts in fields of IT systems and communication technologies. It also coordinates integration of these systems at UP and its implementation to other wider parts as a whole.
Furthermore, co-designs and administrates UP IT systems, university computer network (including networks at faculties), computer systems and databases with wider that only faculty use (outside UK services).
Department task is:
- to create a concept and ensure creation, operation and innovation of university computer networks, computer, information and database systems
- to take part in creation and coordination of software protection of the network
- organization and provision of connection to outside communication structures in contact to worldwide development
Department further manages:
- central back-up
- DHCP, DNS, IMAP, POP3 servers, DNS name administration and IP address assignment
- Maihub secured by an antivirus protection
- Faculty, department and private website system support, including MySQL databases
- File services, remote access services, server antivirus protection

Technical Services and Research Department
Department task is:
- Consultation regarding purchase of computer equipment, provision of technical background during competitive tendering
- Provision of computer components and peripheries and their installation
- PC hardware consultations
- Purchased components installation and provision of warranty service
- Provision of post-warranty computer, printer (and other devices) service
- Ecologic disposal of discarded PCs and other devices
- Technologic consultations regarding development of local and area networks at faculties
- Construction and expansion of UP metropolitan network and its security
- Co-operation with contractors and investors during data network construction
- Close co-operation with computer network development at operation security and development of UP network
- Provision of faculty and university facilities local network services
- Co-operation at service and development of other systems such as ID cards, access system, security camera systems, etc.
- Representation of the university in relation to CESNET and other metropolitan network operators
Operation Department
Department task is:
- Responsibility for UIS UP agenda operation processing and its output
- To process student and employee ID card agenda
- To provide operation of the computer study in Central Library (Zbrojnice) at Biskupské náměstí 1
- Service of the central servers of operational and technical services
- To ensure administration of UP access system along with technical services department
- Responsibility for purchase and evidence of software volume licenses used at UP computers
- Provision of student services related to printing and adjustments of theses, data back-up, text digitalization, etc.
- To provide printing and editing of output reports for individual faculties according to their specific needs
- To provide consultation regarding purchase and installation of software, and to provide software purchase according to user specifications for individual parts of UP
- To run a storage of consumer goods for needs of individual parts of UP
- To take part in conference organization
SAP Coordination UP Centre
SAP co-ordination Public University centre was established by six Moravian public universities (JAMU, MENDELU, UPOL, UTP, VŠB-TUO, VUT) in July 2004 as unincorporated associations.
PU co-ordination centre is the entry point for inquiries and solutions regarding IS SAP. It serves as a link between among public universities and also among public universities and external companies implementing productive operation support for IS SAP.
Furthermore, it provides consulting in the area of service and maintenance of SAP system base for associated schools, i.e. proactive monitoring of SAP systems. This includes not only solving of newly-emerged incidents, but also taking precautions regarding new potential incidents.
It serves as a coordinator of projects and demands for adjustments and development of the system for all of the six public universities.
Department further manages:
SAP co-ordination centre develops and services university HelpDesk system. This application is used for entering employee’s demands and inquiries regarding IT support, but also for building maintenance.
Local Computer Network Administrators
Local computer network administrators are responsible for incident-free operation of faculty computer networks, serves, basic network program equipment of servers and workplaces, basic user equipment of workplaces and they are responsible for installation and operation of university database applications in co-operation with Computer Center. They organize connection of faculty computer study rooms to LAN network and provide basic technologic and program consultation to LAN users in co-operation with faculty network administrator.
